My cousin brother was visiting us over weekend for lunch, with his wife and 2 lovely daughters ages 7 and 3. Chatting with the girls post the meal, we were enjoying ourselves when I asked the elder one what would she like to be when she grew up. She was very prompt – “I want to be a doctor like my Mom.” Wasn’t surprising that she saw an efficient and smart mother and wanted to be like her. I then asked the younger one in a bantering mood what she would like to be and she was equally clear – “I want to be a cartoon!” What ☺ but Why? She was clear again – “Because everyone likes them.”
I deal with JD documents everyday. They tell you very well about the work expected from you. Even if you hadn’t received one, you’d broadly know the action points whether it’s a Sales Leadership role or HR leadership or any other. The scale is discussed upfront. Then how is it that frustration starts setting in, sometimes pretty soon after you’ve joined the company. Because you never understood your job and no one cared to explain it to you.
